Ballad Health released a three-year retrospective this week detailing its efforts to improve health care in the region since its creation in February 2018 through the end of 2020.
âAgainst the backdrop of massive closures of rural hospitals throughout the nation, creating a crisis of access to healthcare in rural communities, Ballad Health was created to preserve and enhance access to needed healthcare in our rural region, reduce the growth in the cost of healthcare and focus on improving the trajectory of health and well-being throughout the Appalachian Highlands,â Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine said in a press release.
Levine said Ballad Health has reduced the cost of health care by millions of dollars annually, improved access in rural communities and attracted more than 150 new providers to the region.

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) â Police in New Haven said theyâre aiming to reduce gun violence by speaking with those who are most at risk.
On Monday, police, along with federal and local prosecutors, announced that theyâd be meeting face-to-face with ex-offenders for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
âIt s so important to have the face-to-face meetings, that face-to-face contact, offer the services, tell them weâre afraid that your at risk, at risk to possibly shoot somebody or be shot, said New Haven Assistant Police Chief Karl Jacobson.
The âcall insâ are part of Project Safe Neighborhood, an approach designed to help reduce and deter gun violence.
This letter was sent to Mayor Hyrum Johnson and the Teton Valley News.Â
My name is Cara Curren. I have been a resident of Driggs for three years. I am ten years old and I live in Buffalo Junction loop. One of the many things I love about Driggs is that everybody is friendly and supportive.
Our family owns a delightful and energetic cockapoo puppy. He needs a great deal of exercise, so I think we should build a dog park. The closest dog park is in Victor which means everybody who wants to play with their dog has to drive to a different town. I feel that if we build a dog park in Driggs, there would be less traffic between our two local cities. We could have also have a dog farmers market selling dog equipment near the park. I think that it would strengthen our community even more!
